The Optimist Café opened in June 2006 and within four weeks has built a devoted following for its distinguishable charm, novel breakfasts, brunches, lunches and high tea. The hope and philosophy that we all share here is that once you arrive, you will leave your worries behind and step into a world of smiles, positive thoughts, good energy and of course, great food. We welcome all private parties and will gladly personalize the menu to suit your needs in order to create the perfect event: The Optimist Café is the perfect spot for bridal and baby showers, business gatherings or a simple tea party for your friends.

Originally, the Captain Howes House, this beautiful historic home was built in 1849 by Captain Frederick Howes (1812 - 1882). And is now listed on the National Historic Register. Stepping into the world of The Optimist Café is a treat not to be missed whether you are a Cape Cod native, or a treasured visitor from out of town. Aside from viewing one of the finest renovations done to an historic house on route 6A, the old Gothic Revival home boasts all the original wood flooring, original plastered walls and ceilings, spiral staircase and French doors. Come enjoy breakfast lunch or high tea in one of the oldest homes on Route 6A. Children, of course, are welcome.
